Translator's Style Through Lexical Bundles: A Corpus-Driven Analysis of Two English Translations of Hongloumeng

Based on a corpus-driven analysis of two translated versions Hongloumeng (one by David Hawkes and the other Xianyi Yang Gladys Yang) in parallel corpora, this article investigates use lexical bundles an attempt to trace stylistic features differences translations produced respective translators. The corpus is developed at sentence level facilitate co-occurrence source texts corresponding translations. For purpose, three-word four-word were first extracted then analyzed with respect functional classification proposed Biber et al. ( 2004 ). results study show that Hawkes' translation embedded greater number variety than one couple. also identified between which can be traced back deployment different strategies translators, appearing turn influenced language backgrounds skopos settings, social, political, ideological milieu produced.
